Canon is a small town that sits right on the line between Franklin and Hart counties. The town itself straddles the boundary, so a property in Canon can fall on either side depending on where the lot sits. About 30 miles from our Hull base, it is quiet country where the county line runs through backyards and fields as much as it runs down a road.
Because Canon crosses two counties, it is worth knowing which side you are on before you call. We serve the Franklin County side of Canon. If your property is on the Hart County side, give Bob a call at (706) 207-2341 to check before booking — if it is close, we can usually work it out.
Which Side of the Line Are You On?
Canon is one of the few towns we work where the county line runs straight through it. We grind stumps on the Franklin County side of Canon. If you are not sure which side your property falls on, the quickest way to find out is to check your address against the county line, then call Bob to confirm before we schedule.
If your property turns out to be on the Hart County side, do not assume we cannot help. Call (706) 207-2341 and talk it through — if it is close to our route, we can usually work it out. It is better to check ahead than to book a job we cannot reach.
Small-Town Yards and Rural Lots
On the Franklin County side, Canon properties range from small in-town yards to rural lots with timber and pasture. Stumps here come from the same sources as everywhere else — a tree taken down in the yard, a storm that knocked one over, or a patch of land cleared and left with stumps behind.
Bob grinds the stump down where it stands, turning it into small wood chips instead of digging a big hole in the yard. The Rayco track-mounted grinder handles stumps from 3 inches in diameter up to 8 feet wide, and its tracks let it work on uneven ground where a truck cannot go.
Chips Raked or Hauled Away
After the grinding, cleanup is part of the job. Bob rakes the grindings smooth to leave as mulch, or hauls them away if you want a clean, level spot for grass or planting. You tell him what you want done with the grindings.
If you plan to plant or lay sod where the stump was, remove most of the chips and fill the spot with topsoil first. Grindings settle as they break down, so topping up the patch keeps it from dipping over time.
