Arcade is a small city along the US-129 corridor between Athens and Jefferson in Jackson County. It is a roadside community, with commercial properties fronting the highway and residential lots set back from the traffic. About 22 miles from our Hull base, it is the kind of place where a tidy storefront and a home lot sit along the same stretch of road.
Stumps turn up on both sides of that road. A tree comes down at the edge of a parking lot, a storm knocks one over onto a residential lawn, or an old shade tree is taken out before it falls. Wherever the tree came out, the stump that remains is a tripping hazard and an eyesore right where people walk and drive.
Roadside Lots and Commercial Frontage
Stumps on roadside and commercial properties are a liability, not just a nuisance. A stump at the edge of a parking area or along a walkway is something customers can trip over, and it makes the grounds look unfinished. Bob grinds it out where it stands so the spot is level and safe.
The Rayco track-mounted grinder handles stumps from 3 inches in diameter up to 8 feet wide. Its compact footprint lets it work on tight roadside lots without tearing up the surrounding pavement or lawn.
Residential Lots Set Back From the Road
The residential side of Arcade has its own share of stumps, often a single big one left after an old tree came down in the yard. Grinding takes it out below the surrounding grade so the area is safe and easy to mow over, without digging a big hole in the lawn.
After the grinding, cleanup is part of the job. Bob rakes the grindings smooth to leave as mulch or hauls them away, depending on what you want done with the chips.
Tidy Grounds and Fewer Hazards
Whether it is a commercial frontage or a home lot, the goal in Arcade is usually the same: tidy grounds and fewer tripping hazards. A clean, level spot where the stump used to be is safer for foot traffic and easier to maintain.
For property managers and homeowners alike, getting the stump out and cleaning up the chips is the whole job. You tell Bob what you want done with the grindings, and the rest is scheduled from a quote.
