What size stumps can you grind?
We grind stumps from 3 inches in diameter up to 8 feet wide. The Rayco track-mounted grinder handles small yard stumps and large, old-growth stumps alike.
Is stump grinding safe for the rest of my yard?
Yes. The track-mounted grinder is compact and designed to work in yards without tearing up the surrounding turf. We're careful around sprinkler heads, lines, and landscape features you point out.
What happens to the wood chips?
You choose. We can rake the grindings smooth and leave them as mulch, or we can haul them away. Just tell us what you'd like done with the grindings.
Can removing a stump help with termites and ants?
A decaying stump can attract termites, carpenter ants, and other pests. Removing it eliminates a food source and nesting site near your home or outbuildings.
What should I do to get my yard ready?
Move vehicles and outdoor furniture away from the stump, and mark sprinkler heads and lines, invisible dog fence wire, and landscape lighting so we can avoid them.
Is there a best time of year?
Any time the ground is workable is fine. Very wet red clay can mean we reschedule so the grinder isn't tearing up soft ground or leaving ruts.
Can I plant or lay sod where the stump was?
Yes. Remove most of the wood chips and fill the spot with topsoil first, because grindings settle as they break down. Then you can plant, seed, or lay sod.
